My story is probably no different than millions of other Americans!I have been without real work for two years. I have volunteered  to help family and friends. Rewarding yes,but doesn't keep the lights on. We can give bonuses to the rich stock marketeers but cant extend unemployment benefits to the needy 99ers.What a cruel government we have. We need Jobs and opportunity now. I was a successful general contractor. Our company employed over 100 skilled workers and was growing. When the economy turned so did a lot of  Businesses . One developer alone owes our company over 800 thousand dollars, they filed bankruptcy. I have survived because of my faith and family. When troubled times come its how we deal with these situations and what we do to fix the problem with solutions. So I  prayed"God use me as a vessel to do your will and a little of mine".Then the inspirations started flowing. The time is at hand to make real change! Instead of going just green as a builder.I was also going to write Green laws and Petitions. Become an Ally

A core function of the 1Sky campaign is to connect, amplify, and reinforce the powerful work of our allies. Having a large and diverse base of allies helps us demonstrate the depth of public support for bold climate action to our elected officials. All 1Sky allies support the 1Sky Solutions (below) - please fill out the form below to join the campaign as an ally, and see the bottom of this page for a description of the many ways that allies are working with the 1Sky Campaign.

Sign the Pledge: I pledge to do what I can to support the 1Sky Solutions:

  • Create 5 million green jobs and pathways out of poverty by rebuilding and refueling America with a comprehensive energy efficiency mobilization and immediate investments in a clean-energy infrastructure.
  • Reduce global warming pollution at least 35% below current levels by 2020, and at least 80% by 2050, in line with the best science available. Recycle revenues from the sale of pollution allowances or carbon taxes to ensure they are equitably returned to the public to offset potential increases in energy costs, accelerate the transition to a clean energy future in the U.S. and internationally, and fund adaptation for vulnerable communities and natural systems here and abroad.
  • Re-power America by imposing a moratorium on new coal plants that emit global warming pollution and replacing dirty fuels with 100% renewable energy.

Roles of Allies:

In addition to supporting the 1Sky Solutions, 1Sky allies are participating in many campaign activities on an ongoing basis, including the following:

  • Supporting 1Sky calls to action: Organizing local grassroots actions, meetings and other events in coordination with national 1Sky calls to action; spreading the word about these activities to personal and organizational e-mail lists and networks.
  • Recruiting and engaging local activists: Recruiting Climate Precinct Captains and volunteer activists to join the campaign promoting 1Sky at conferences and community events.
  • Recruiting and engaging local allies: Inviting new organizations and businesses to endorse the 1Sky policy platform and join in campaign activities, building the campaign's power.
  • Mobilizing key constituencies: Elevating the voices of key constituencies in support of 1Sky campaign activities and policy priorities.
  • Political lobbying and policy analysis: Organizing office visits and face-to-face meetings with members of Congress (either in D.C. or in district); providing feedback and sharing information about key policy issues.
  • Generating media coverage: Offering press quotes or public remarks supporting 1Sky actions and policy priorities; organizing local press conferences and media events; writing letters and op-eds to newspapers and appearing on local radio and TV programs.
  • Activating online networks and new media Blogging about 1Sky actions and policy priorities; spreading the word about 1Sky campaign activities through Facebook, Twitter and other online social networks.

Benefits for Allies:

  • Connection to a bold, high-profile campaign with opportunities to communicate, network and collaborate with hundreds of diverse organizations towards shared goals and policy priorities.
  • Opportunities for grassroots networking, organizing support, visibility and base-building through partnership on our Climate Precinct Captains program.
  • Access to shared campaign web tools, trainings, materials and organizer support to build organizational capacity.
  • Onramps to action to engage diverse constituencies and organizations in a rapidly growing movement for bold climate solutions.
  • Access to and sharing of information related to key political and policy developments, media and messaging resources, activities of 1Sky ally organizations and developments within the broader climate movement.
  • Opportunities to share field, policy, communications and internet strategies to build a community of practice and support campaign efforts.

Could 99ers get Tier 5 Unemployment Extension by Year's End? | Business & Finance News

Could 99ers get Tier 5 Unemployment Extension by Year's End? | Business & Finance Newshttp://business-and-finance-1357.blogspot.com/2010/08/could-99ers-get-tier-5-unemployment.html

Could 99ers get Tier 5 Unemployment Extension by Year's End?

Could the 99ers get Tier V unemployment extension by year's end? Debbie Stabenow (D-Mi) has introduced the Senate version of a Tier 5 extension, called "Americans Want to Work Act" that will add 20 weeks of unemployment benefits to the already available 99 weeks. This will provide some Americans with just enough time needed to find work.

Shelley Berkley in the House has the House version of the bill. The House bill is focused solely on offering a Tier 5 extension, and only for states with 10% or higher unemployment. Stabenow's bill also provides incentives for businesses to hire the long term unemployed.

There are a lot of political hurdles to overcome before a bill can be passed. We know from the last extension that it's going to be a hard sell to the GOP, who don't want to add to the nation's looming deficit. There are also those with political views such as Glenn Beck who say that "two years" is enough time to live off your "neighbor's wallet."

So will there be a Tier 5 extension by year's end? Given the elections coming up, there might be too much excitement for any headway to be made. We can only hope, and pray that help is on the way. This way, businesses can flourish through increased demands, and people can live knowing their basic needs will be met.

This bill Shelly Berkley has introduced is just stupid what about the majority of state who are at 9.5 or 9.9 % unemployment rate? She must just be looking out for her home state. Now the bill Stenbow has introduced makes sense to me and if the party of NO does not support it and work together to get it passed and put into place before elections I say vote every republican that is up for re-election out of office.I went from a 70,000 a year job to unemployment ot only being able to find a part time job that pays minimum wage and still draw partial unemployment and it only took me a little over a year to find this job.Now it does give me back some of my digity that I had lost but it sure is not enough to live off of.
We need a tier 5 with these incentives for employers t ohire us and return us to the work force with good paying jobs and benefits for our families and until then we need this extension.

I need an extension just as much as yall do but this probably is not going to happen. I have 4 kids and I could use it too. They think we are not looking and they do not care for us.

Anonymous said...

You people that think only your state needs it? We ALL need it...how about that? Be supportive of all the unemployed right now.

I have been actively looking for work..I don't want to sit home ....this is the longest I have been without a job in my 57 years of age......I am about to lose my home, have applied for food stamps, have NO insurance, what's next???? I am a 99er????? No I am unemployed worker looking for a job and, I NEED HELP!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

I agree. I got laid off. I have been looking everywhere. Finally took advantage and through WIA at unemployment started back to school. have a 16 month old. still looking for work and I need help. I am considered a 99er, but contrary to some beliefs we are not lazy and mooching, we are desperate and need help. I am a single mother and need work or temp unemployment until I can finish school or find work, which ever comes first.

im independent but for all the people that think the gop is going to lose this nov. i hate to say it but you better wake up and look at some of the polls... i think if the health care had not got shoved down our throat unemployemt wouldnt have been a problem now none of them wants to work together

daniel said...

This bill is the same as last years when
Mc Dermont introduced a new extension of benefits.
He asked for an extension where unemployment was
8.5% or higher cant remember exactly but more or less the same and it was right at the summer recess. if these law makers care at all this issue would have been taken months ago I'm sure her request is nothing more than a ploy for political gain.

amen. Mr. Beck. By the way, how about donating money from your multimillion dollar estate that is up for sale.............You are really in a different world.............come to reality.

The tier 5 and 6 and 7 or however more tiers it takes to keep Americans living needs to be passed NOW! None of us can wait any longer. I have read in past postings of folks thinking it's time for a REVOLUTION in this country! I'm starting to agree. This country is in a state of emergency crisis with the unemployed and all it takes is the President to step up and grow a set and sign an Excutive Order to pass the Tier 5 and 6 and more if needed right now! None of us can afford to wait any longer! The Republicans we all know by now are out come November!

Anonymous said...

Hey everyone, can't we attempt to be civil and show that we have enough education to carry on a real conversation regarding the issue rather than rant and swear to no one but ourselves. I know it might make you feel better temporarily, but it doesn't make anyone feel better in the long run. It would be better if we talked about positive ways to communicate to the politicians in Washington our real need and maybe some ideas of ways to help us. Such as, perhaps the unemployment taxes both Federal (FUTA) and State (SUTA)that all businesses pay should be temporarily raised to cover the cost of additional benefits. The companies are the ones who are no longer employing us, let the companies carry the cost of maintaining us at unemployment levels. This would also be an incentive for companies to start hiring again. It would lower the tax sooner. There could also be a tax credit given against the increased tax for hiring long term out of work employees.

I am one who is lucky to be employed, I count my blessings everyday. If this losy government of ours would take some of the money they sent to other countries and use it for unemployment extensions so many hard working americans wouldn't be losing things they worked all there lives to achieve. Why don't these asswhole in our government each give up 1 month of there higher then they are worth saleries to contribute to there fellow americans in need? Why because they aren't worried about good americans in need, they are greety bitches and bastards that need a good wake up call. I am all for you 99ers getting an extension and if my tax dollar is going somewhere useful like to help hard working americans stay afloat well i say hurray, it makes me sick to know we are rebuilding and feeding people in other countries, while are own fellow americans are stuggling to make needs meet. We should first take care of us as americans then help others if and when there's anything left. Our government has there priorities up there asses maybe it's time they were givin an enema.

Our nation has to suffer for the Republicans greed!

Anonymous said...

Don't blame Shelly Berkley.....the Democrats have to take baby steps so Republicans don't shoot it down like they have been doing!

Republicans only care about their corporate friends; not the low or middle class! Everyone that pays taxes should be upset that the rich and wealthy get tax breaks.

Example: does it really make sense that everyone else (lets say) has to pay 30% of their income in taxes, but the rich and wealthy only have to pay 18% of their income? Taxes should at least be equal across the board or lower for the low or middle class if anything! It makes no sense; greedy Republicans!

Bill and Hilary Clinton opted out of the tax cut but George W & Laura Bush didn't; did they?

Businesses will not "flourish", even if an extension is passed. Our economy needs corporate investments that create jobs in our country, not jobs overseas.
Someone mentioned that health care reform is adding to the crisis. Health care reform is needed, but not in its current legislation. Insurance monopolies have to be challenged with the repeal of the anti-trust exemption, and a public option. Health care costs are still rising, so the idea of reform is imperative; how it is implemented must be reworked though.
Also, blaming the unemployed for the state of the economy fails as a political strategy.
It just makes the accusers sound more stupid than they are.

It's absurd to hear some of the reasonings Republicans are against passing a tier 5. They stereotype all the unemployed as ppl that are look n for handouts and, as long as we r receiving such benefits we will not look for work. Of course, i could go on & on....but, some of their comments are not worth dignifying with a response. First of all, it's not just the middle class and poor that are unemployed....Republicans have lost their jobs and way of life too! So, to those that are blocking it's passage i say this to you...i've been a proud, hard working, law abiding, independent american / citizen all of my life and u have the audacity to group (stereotype) all the unemployed as being lazy, not seeking work, looking for handouts is very degrading. 99ers have lost their way of life, their livelihood and, now u want to take the only thing we have left our pride, humility & dignity and, force us to get down on bended knee and beg u to pass a tier 5.....how u have not been able to see the urgency of passing this bill is mind bottling....yes, i'm writing alot bcuz, i have alot to say.....but, i will close by say n this....plz do not continue to insult the 99ers intelligence by say n we r not look n for work bcuz, we r content with receiving unemployment benefits. "99ers, are not living off of unemployment benefits......we are EXISTING!!!" There's a difference!!! Unemployment is a way of life, survival for ppl...most are already so far in debt anyway unemployment is not considered a bailout of sorts....u can't catch up on ur mortgage, car notes, credit card payments, etc...it's all about survival now....just being able to continue to keep food on the table....that's all we have left.... the day we 99ers lost our jobs was the very day we lost our way of life.....our EVERYTHING!!! You continue to take vacations and, ur now on an extended month long vacation while we continue to suffer, worry & wonder when and if the bill will pass speaks volumes.....and, we the 99ers will speak volumes also with our vote in November..."We are 99ers Fedup...We are 99ers United!!!"

All the repubs want to pass an extention is that the dems find a way to pay for it. They haven't even spent 1/2 of the approved stimulus money. What they did spend hasn't helped unemployment. How about taking some of that money? How about stop funding illegals? How about stop giving money to countries that hate us? How about dropping the national health care? We would have been much better off if the stimulus that we gave businesses was directly tied to the number of jobs created for "legal" Americans. The national debt is out of control. Worse now than under the Bush Admin.

If Glenn Beck wasn't such a moron i might actually be offended. Nobody listens to the idiot except for a few white extremists and some of his fat cat friends. I heard he has a show but how slow and stupid would i have to be to watch it. Never have. Limbaugh has dumbed down America enough. Beck would cheapen it also. Tier 5 is needed to help real Americans who cannot find a job because there aren't any. Anyone that says that the unemployed are getting a handout doesn't have a nickels worth of common sense. The only people getting the handouts are big businesses, banks, wall street and the republicans who think we the people owe them a free ride career. Say goodbye in November to that free ride. Vote!!!!

Whoever is writing this crap needs to stop saying that this will add to the defecit! Congress has always passed things that would so called " add to the defecit" this is stupid talk. Get your shit straight. People are making this worse than what it actually is. Get5 involved in all aspects of politics not just one thing that may or may not benefit you.

Since I worked my entire adult life up till lately, am I living off my neighbor's wallet now as a 99r or am I living off of what I've paid into the system?

10% or higher!!!!! this bill is a joke if that is true. They are going to leave the VAST majority of us left in the cold and searching for ways to eat and searching for shelter. We are out of work at no fault of our own and states with 10% or higher are the only states that have desperate people I guess. Our President and our Representatives need a wake up call..... at any cost. Its time.

I once participated in a unemployment rally in Lansing Mich which was very effective, we won.

I suggest we go to our state capital and demand what we really want JOBS , thay may give us an Extension until we get JOBS.

They have sent our jobs overseas, GIVE THEM BACK NOW! NOW ! NOW !

START A CAMPAIGN TO DEMAND WORK BE BROUGHT BACK FROM ACROSS THE WORLD. IT WAS NICE AMERICA HELPED THE WORLD BUT LOOK WHAT IT HAS DONE TO AMERICA.

As a HUMAN WE NEED CERTAIN CONDITIONS , they took away our work to pay for water that is no longer free because of laws. To pay for housing ,that you can no longer build yourself becuase of laws.
KEEP IT SIMPLE THEY WAY IT SHOULD BE, let then figure it law to support our cause.
GIVE US DECENT LAWS.
NOT EVERYONE IS BORN WITH OPPORTUNITY BUT WE ALL NEED TO EAT, DRINK ,SLEEP TO LIVE.
EFFECT THIER SLEEP IF NOTHING ELSE!

TURN IT AROUND , THEY ARE LAZY IF THEY CAN NOT FIND A WAY TO GIVE US BACK THEY JOBS THEY GAVE LEGISLATED AWAY. NO MORE LAZY LAWMAKERS, WE WANT JOBS!!!!!
DO YOU HEAR US ARE YOU DEAF AS WELL AS LAZY!!!

Enough is enough! Legal U.S citizens unite! Help take the steps to save our country take our jobs back and stop this illegal immigrant invasion. Support our cause before illegal immigrant criminals have more rights than us. This is our last stand! If other online articles report unemployment is around 20% and there are 310 million in the U.S census reports. Then there is as many as 62 million people in the U.S that are unemployed & are able to work full-time. Do we have to reach 150 million unemployed before we take action? Also we must take steps to lower local city and state councilmen salaries too they are all robbing & hurting the people they serve. So please read and sign this online petition. "Petition to Reduce the Wages of Congress Men and Women from $174,000 per year to $50,000 per year at “change.org’. " Link is below!

There ARE enough unemployed people that if we band together and get more Dems in office we could get things up and running again. I can't stand the bickering back and forth between Dems and Repubs. We need jobs, we need help without sinking all of us as taxpayers (we already have "unspent" porkulus money that can be used to help us. Princess Pelosi doubles down our sinkhole by spending another $26 billion to bail out teacher unions. What about the 99'ers?
All of you, KNOCK IT OFF !!! Get connected with the people!

A frustrated and unemployed citizen and taxpayer. Fight poverty with prosperity......

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Do not vote for any Republican candidates or Republican Reelective Candidates in November!!! They are trying to screw all of us 99ers.

In order to control us, they have to screw us to be poorer so they can tell us what to do!!! This is the principal doctrine of the Republican Party. They only support the big Corporations and the rich Multimillionaire or Billionnaire!!!

US 99ERS WILL WIN BECAUSE THEY ARE AND WILL BE MORE AND MORE OF US. IF THEY WON'T GIVE US TIER 5,6,7,8 IF NEEDED UNTIL THEY CREATE JOBS...WE WILL ALL START TO TAKE WHAT WE NEED.VOTE OUT PELOSI, REID, AND ANYONE WHO BUTS A VACATION AHEAD OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

We need this extension but most of all we need JOBS. The congress needs to make it illegal to ship our jobs overseas. Clinton did this to us 14 years ago by allowing our jobs to go offshore. Ross Perot was right at the time.. we did hear a loud flushing sound. Now we are paying for it.

People complain that if we don't manufacture goods overseas we would not be able to afford them. That is a lie. If we made the goods here and paid a decent wage we would not need to worry about the extra cost. We cut our own throats when we allowed CLINTON to ship our jobs overseas. Now our once great nation is in debt to China and Japan and many other nations. For this reason alone. MAKE IT HERE AND BUY IT HERE will solve most of these problems.
I'm sorry to say that we are watching the end of our great nation. Electing a fake like Obama was the final straw. He will do nothing to creat a strong USA again. He is part of the group that want to ruin the USA. They have wanted this for so long they have forgotten that now they are the ones in charge and the people they protested against are in the ground. Now they only hurt their fellow Americans. How foolish
