Amy | "No other jobs even called back-my 17 yr old son got the mcdonalds..."took a crappy job & it wont even support my family, only got that job cause i lied on the application to make myself seem like a loser who had never worked a real job. On my thousands of applications for REAL jobs, been told I was in the top 20 to be considered for a job with over 300 applicants, called to thank them & set up an interview, was told they will get back to me & they hired someone else before my interview. No other jobs even called back-my 17 yr old son got the McDonalds job for weekends only. I didn`t qualify even though I did that when I was 17 | ||
Carline | "To help the approx 16 million long-term unemployed who lost jobs at the beginning..."Matt Laurer of the Today show is accepting questions from the public for an interview he is conducting with President Obama. Questions are being accepted today (3-28) and I believe the interview takes place on Tues. I put in a request for him to address a Tier 5 extension to help the approx 16 million long-term unemployed who lost jobs at the beginning of the Great Recession thru no fault of their own and have been unable to find new ones. Fortunately I have a job (70% of my former salary) but need child support from my ex who lost his job in 2008. His benefits just ran out and I cannot quite meet the rent payment without child support from him. My kids will be homeless and hungry shortly and my very good landlord will be hurt by this situation. Multiply our situation by few million and the loss of UI benefits to all these folks will have a devastating ripple effect. Go to the Today Show website and ask Matt Laurer to speak with the president about a Tier 5 extension now !!!

Eldon | "Congress needs to pass a tier 5..."We need a Tier 5! I have been working hard full time since I was 17 years old. I`m 35 now and at the end of Tier 4. I don`t understand how a government could ignore the reality of what is happening. If I don`t find work soon I`m going to be on public assistance. I don`t want public assistance, I want a job! I`m trying every field I have experience in and more. No calls backs, no emails. I`ll take a salary at less than half I was making and I still can`t get interviews. I`m talking hundreds of applications. The stress really is wearing me out. Congress needs to pass a Tier 5 or else every week more and more people are going to be out of benefits. What then? What happens to us? What is America going to look like in a few months?
